The problem with advertising

It was a warm summer day. I was sitting on my balcony sipping a cold Something and Nothing Seltzer. Since I love to study designs that surround me I had a closer look at the can. “We give 1p to Glimpse for every can sold. Creativity for good” was written on it. That caught my attention and led me to your collective's website. Ever since nosing around it, I started following Glimpse.

I loved advertising until I started studying it. Through my learnings, I found out that its implications are surrounded by ethical and moral issues. On the one hand, Nike invests money in marketing events for communities in the USA, on the other they are milking the poor workers in Indonesia. And yet it was my dream to work on their campaigns. I still love advertising but I am aware of its downsides. Since then I am looking for the answer to the question: How to use my design and advertising skills in an ethical way? The best one I came up with is to do it for socially and environmentally conscious brands and invest part of the profit and time back into promoting positive change. And it seems that Glimpse is doing exactly that.

Seven years ago I started freelancing for SMEs as a print and web designer. It was at the beginning of my Media Design study. Since then I have opened a small subscription-based web design agency called vemero.de and helped more than 75 satisfied clients achieve their business objectives. Besides design, strategy is a big part of my work spectrum—as more often the key to a successful project is to tackle the real business objective hidden behind the client’s wants. Having lived in Poland, the USA and lastly, Germany where most of my clients are based I decided to move to London and step into its creative industry. Since there is no better place for me than Glimpse I would like to apply as a freelance web and print designer. With my acquired skills, I can design for you extensive catalogues, brochures or magazines in InDesign as well as design and develop polished websites with Figma or Adobe XD and WordPress or Webflow. Since account management is part of my day to day, I would be happy to your clients through their briefs and present them our results.

There are further skills that I acquired as a freelance designer/entrepreneur that would go beyond the scope of this letter but I would be happy to talk you through. Since my broad experience in strategy-led web and print design skills and mindset appear to be an excellent fit for your collective I would appreciate the opportunity to chat with you about how we can employ my expertise.

What’s a Rich Text element?

This is a subheading and where it goes in the document flow

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. This is an h2 heading inside rich text

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
